Sunday March 2, 2008Dallas has always been a second home to me. It’s hard to believe I lived here over 20 years ago…it seems like last week. Gary Long, who I openly admit taught me how to teach, was a most gracious host along with his lovely bride Karen. They arranged a last minute intensive over the weekend, and gave me the opportunity to head north in Hemilina and play in big D. Saturday night had some great dancing at Texas Classic Push Clubs dance at Sandunga’s Dance Studio http://www.texasclassic.com/ . Be sure to check out the pictures from the evening. I danced quite a bit, and had the pleasure of dancing with one of my favorite partners of all time…Rose Marie Mallady. I can’t say enough about Rose. She was one of my inspirations when I started, and remains an inspiration today. Every time I dance with Rose, I get to do all the Push Dancing I want and I feel like I’m 16 years old again at the Lamp Post. I’ll dance with you anytime Rose, and I wish everyone had the chance to dance with you. My father and I have a saying…if you want to see if a pattern is leadable, try it with Rose. If she can’t follow it, then it isn’t leadable. There were quite a few dear friends at the dance, and I send out great big hugs to Robin McBride, Cher Peadon (the BEST partner I could ever hope for), Claudia Buhrig, Kerry and Alicia Turner, and my brother Bradford Sammus. Oh, I can’t forget the Jellyman. I really wish there were more weekends for me to come play up here…
